Book Review of 'Ikigai' by Hector Garcia & Albert Liebermann

This book touches the various aspects of life which can help us achieve long happy life. It is based on an ancient, well-practiced Japanese technique called 'IKIGAI'. The authors define Ikigai and its rules based on one hundred interviews done in Ogimi, Okinawa to try to understand the longevity secrets of centenarians and supercentenarians. The term 'Ikigai' is explained as 'the reason why you get out of bed in the morning'. It is the reason for your existence. Its the happiness of always being busy. The French might say ”raison d’etre”. It forces you to really think what’s important in life and right there lies the secret to a long and happy life. In answer to this question, you will find your own Ikigai which is a combination of your passion, your mission, and your profession. There is a passion inside you, a unique talent that gives meaning to your days and drives you to share the best of yourself until the very end. If you don’t know what your Ikigai is yet

Book Review of 'A turn in the road' by Debbie Macomber

In this contemporary fiction book, Debbie Macomber not only manages to deep dive into the emotional issues people face, but she also introduces the reader to the love, struggles, and triumphs of three generations of women by adding color and humor to a heartfelt story. The 394-page tale of a road trip is smooth and easy to read.  Bethanne's (the central character of the book) ex-husband, Grant, wants them to reunite, but Bethanne isn't sure she can ever trust Grant again, since his infidelity destroyed their marriage. Devastated when he left, Bethanne managed to put her life in order, start her own business and become a successful entrepreneur. On a whim, Bethanne agrees to go on a road trip with her daughter, Annie, and Grant's mother, Ruth, who's driving across the country to attend her 50th high school reunion. Ruth hopes to right a wrong she did 50 years ago when she 'dumped' her high-school sweetheart, Royce. Ruth wonders if there are still sparks between t

'Stranger Things'- the Review

''Stranger Things' is an American Drama/Fantasy/Horror/Sci-Fi TV series on Netflix. I binge-watched the show because the thriller plot kept me yearning for more! Created, written, directed and co-produced by the Duffer Brothers, the show is set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana in the vintage 1980's (brings back the 80's nostalgia!), and the storyline revolves around a fanatic search of a young boy, who suddenly disappears one night. His mother, a police chief, and his friends start looking for him and they must confront the 'bad men' as well as the terrifying forces in order to get him back. The season 1 has just 8 episodes and each episode is timed at around 45-50 mins. Every episode is crisp and stupendous! There's mystery, teenage drama, a mother's undying love, a dedicated police officer, instances of true friendship/loyalty of his friends, the scary monsters, the 'bad men', and some supernatural events occurring around the

A walk in Nature

As I walk barefoot on the cold grass I open my arms and hug the cool morning air Listen to the calm water flowing in the river And see the birds flying in the endless sky As the sun smiles on me And plays hide and seek with the clouds I pace and see The waterfall flowing ahead I see the squirrel munching a nut And monkeys playing on trees I smell the earth and say, “I feel so happy and gay” I see the flowers smiling As I say good morning I play with the butterflies And they sit by my side I hear the birds sing a song And the flowers dance in the breeze I see the busy ants Crawling nearby I smell the roses And adore their beauty I feel the warmth As the sun rays touch my skin I smell the grass and hug the trees Cause they are my siblings And as I kiss them goodbye They smile and say bye bye!

Don't know what to wish for!!!

Life is so unpredictable. I think humans try to make their life better by doing a lot of things but the truth is that we are merely the puppets in the hands of God. He is our creator and our story writer. I  think God has his own way of doing things and we are no one to judge his decisions. All events that happen in our life are for some reason or another. We may not be happy due to those events but gradually we like those events. We are complex beings and we are never satisfied with what we have. Finding happiness in them is not easy but that's we should be doing. We seldom take things for granted. We always wish for more (more money, more fame, more success, more happiness, etc.) But is it really necessary? We are running in a rat race to win from everyone but is it required? Why can't we be just happy and contented with everything? Why do we have a feeling for more than what we currently have? Why are we so conceited? Happiness is very subjective. I may be happy with
