A Life Changing Journey......

Image
It was 4.36 pm in my watch. I was in Karjat fast train. My semester 1 exams were on. Today i had Economics Paper which was very bad. I had worked hard on it since i am bad at it but somehow my efforts went down in drain when i saw the paper. I was sad. I didn't want to fail in this subject. I was on the verge of tears and suddenly the train stopped....... Dadar station had come and people were rushing in the train like black ants who rush for food....... Then i thought that now i should distract myself and look at the crowd. I have been thinking a lot so i wanted to have some peace of mind. I saw two girls who were discussing their Biology paper; three ladies were discussing their work problems; a girl was talking on the phone with her boyfriend; a married girl was talking to her friend about her problems at home on how her in laws don't like her as she has done inter-caste love marriage; two girls were discussing about their marriage shopping list as one of them was g

Generosity

Image
Generosity is the trait of being willing to give money or time. Generosity means to be noble. We feel sympathetic towards the poor and donate them food or money. But is this enough? Will they ever settle in their life after our noble help? No! So what should one do to help them permanently? The answer lies in the short story below: There was a female beggar who used to beg everyday at a railway station. She was in her 40’s or so and she used to beg the whole day with her 10 year old daughter. I used to give money or food to her. One day I was waiting for my train to come. It was 20 minutes late. I saw an old lady who must be in 50’s or so, talking with that female beggar. They were having an animated conversation. I was curious to know the topic they were talking on. I was about to go there but as I heard the announcement of my train coming, I rushed off. The next day I saw her begging as usual but after 5 months, she vanished. It was a mystery

Learning from Failures

Image
Thomas Alva Edison Thomas Edison tried two thousand different materials in search of a filament for the light bulb. When none worked satisfactorily, his assistant complained, “All our work is in vain. We have learned nothing.” Edison replied very confidently, “Oh, we have come a long way and we have learned a lot. We know that there are two thousand elements which we cannot use to make a good light bulb.” We must always remember this lesson. Even though we get failures in our life, we should never lose hope. Even if we fall down in the race of life, we must get up and run. The one who gets up after falling down is the real winner. It’s all about learning from your mistakes.

Inspiring Erasers

A person said, " Erasers are made for those who make mistakes." The other replied, "Erasers are made for those who are willing to correct their mistakes." While a third one had an another point of view about erasers. He said, "Erasers on pencils are deliberately small for you to remember that chances are limited."

COFFEE DAY TODAY

Image
I LOVE COFFEE It may amaze you that why the name of my blog is "Cookies and Cold Coffee". The reason is, i like cookies but I LOVE COFFEE. In India, tea is the main beverage of most of the population. Coffee is the beverage of mainly the southern part of India. We are taught in economics that tea and coffee are substitute goods and when prices fluctuate, people change their preferences. But i don't think so. I don't think that tea or coffee drinkers ever change their preferences. At least i don't switch over! Researchers have given many views on coffee- good as well as bad. One research says that if you drink a cup of coffee everyday then you can get away with certain types of cancer. Another research says that coffee stays in your digestive system for a week, which is bad. I don't know whom to believe but i know one thing that anything in excess is bad for health. So do drink coffee but not too much of it. I drink coffee only once

TCS @ JDBIMS

Today we had a Personality Development Session at JDBIMS. It was taken by TCS. The session was great. Sir told us about the various aspects of personality and the agenda of  the 100 hour session. It was a three hour session today and we will have three hour sessions. The session was there after our regular lectures. We all were tired for the lecture but as we went on through the session, our tiredness ran away. We were really enjoying the session. The session was interactive and crazy. Yeah, you read it right. Our sir made us stand on our seats, not to punish us, but to make us feel how different it feels from there. I enjoyed the feeling and felt as if i am going to fly now. The lecture changed our views completely. I don't think that i will ever bunk such a session anytime. I think the session was full of fun and it is really worthwhile to attend such sessions. I thank my management institute, JDBIMS, that they arranged for this Personality Develo

Purple Thoughts

It is said "Never Judge a Book by its Cover" but that's what people seldom do. People judge others by their facial expressions, language, the tone of talking, appearance, etc. in short by their verbal and nonverbal behavior.         And there are some people who not only judge people by their appearance but also behave to them in that manner. I think this is totally wrong. Yes, we may have perceptions about a person (who doesn't) but behaving with them in the wrong manner is totally wrong.        Just like everyone, even I have random thoughts about random people but I never behave with them in that manner. I keep my doors open to everyone and let the thought process go on. As the saying goes, one cannot judge a person by their behavior. It is necessary that we give treat everyone equally and mix up with them. To conclude, I would say that first, we need to spend time with that person, or for that matter everyone and then decide our preferen

GANPATI PUJAN @ JDBIMS

Today i and my classmates of MMS-1 celebrated GANPATI PUJAN in JDBIMS, Santacruz, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. We arranged this pujan as GANPATI BAPPA has come to greet us since 19th september 2012. We brought all the necessary things needed for the aarti and gathered early at JDBIMS. Everyone did their level best to ensure that the aarti went well. It was a group effort. Then by 12.15pm, we called all the professor's and our seniors. The aarti went on for around 15 minutes. Everyone was given a chance to hold the 'puja thali'.  After the puja, we gave prasad to everyone. The aarti went well. One of our professor's liked the aarti kept by us. We were elated by her good comments. After the last lecture, we did a aarti again and went home with a smile on our faces. Our GANPATI PUJAN was successful. I hereby thank all my colleague's who did a wonderful job today. We had a great coordination today. And thanks Pratyusha, it was you who not only t
